We are a small family business, which was founded in 1991. Currently we cultivate fruits on 17 hectare. Our location offers optimal conditions for the cultivation of stone fruits due to its low rainfall of 420 - 450 mm per year in average and excellent soil land assessment score of 80 - 90 on a 0 - 100 score. Therefore, our main crop are sweet cherries. In addition, we also grow apples, pears, sour cherries, apricots, plums, nectarines and peaches. All our trees grow on dwarfing rootstocks. Therefore, the tree concentrates on generative rather than vegetative growth. This means we have small trees with large fruits, which pleases both - our customers and our harvest workers.
We produce according to the standards of integrated production, which in our opinion combines the best of organic and conventional farming. We are constantly striving to increase the biodiversity on our plantation. Scientific studies of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and the University of Applied Sciences Dresden prove that we are well on the way we doing. We pay special attention to the settlement and preservation of native wild bee species.
In cooperation with other partners, we have been working on a site trial for newly bred sweet cherry and apricot varieties worldwide since 2005. Here we assess the yield performance of the trees and evaluate the fruit quality. Furthermore, we have been breeding our own sweet cherries for 10 years.
Our fruits are mainly produced for the domestic market, but also for the European food retail trade. Of course, we also offer our products in our sales container directly on our plantation in Beesenstedt. Here we sell fresh fruits within the season from morning till evening, seven days a week. We can be reached via Freister Street at the northern exit of Beesenstedt.
